The Wild Side of Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a sprawling city in Nevada that’s earned the nickname of the “city of sin” from its huge collection of clubs and casinos. But it’s not all about the parties as the city is home to dozens of parks and golf courses, while the outer city limits have majestic desert vegetation and wildlife.
If you’re visiting Las Vegas, take advantage of its proximity to the idyllic Black Canyon, which is a collection of black volcanic rocks that frame the Colorado River and lead towards the Hoover Dam. This river meanders from California, through Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado – over 1,447 miles – bordered by spectacular sun-baked canyons. It’s also a prime destination for water rafters, boaters and skiers.
For those who like kayaking and white water rafting, the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park borders the Colorado Rover in Mesa County, and is dotted with camp sites, boat ramps and swimming beaches. A popular trip for tourists is the Corn Lake and Connected Lakes downriver float, which covers about 10 miles and traverses class II rapids. For those who prefer dry land, the Fruita section of the park provides excellent red rock climbing and mountain hiking trails.
Buy cheap flights to Las Vegas and explore the wild side of the entertainment capital of the world.
